End of Year Summary and Reflections

As 2024 comes to a close, it’s a good time to pause, reflect, and take stock of the year that was. At Revise Recruitment, it’s been a year of exciting growth, meaningful connections, and moments that have reinforced why we do what we do.

From the roles we’ve filled to the events we’ve attended, here’s a look back at what made this year so impactful – along with some reflections on what we’ve learned and what’s next.

Highlights of 2024

Roles We’ve Recruited

This year, we’ve placed exceptional professionals into roles across the Peak Bodies, Memberships, and Associations sector. From C-suite executives to Policy Advisors and Membership Managers, we’ve been proud to match skilled professionals with organisations driving real change.

Some key positions we’ve recruited for:

  • CEO, COO and CFO
  • Head of Policy & Advocacy
  • GM, Membership Engagement & Experience
  • Head of Marketing
  • Membership, Sponsorship & Partnerships Lead
  • Events Manager
  • CPD & L&D Manager
  • IR Specialist
  • EA
  • Talent Acquisition Specialist

Each placement has been a testament to the importance of understanding both our clients’ organisational goals and our candidates’ career aspirations.

Events & Conferences

It’s been a busy year on the events front! We were thrilled to connect with so many of you at industry events like:

  • Association Forum’s Leadership Symposium
A highlight of the year, this symposium offered thought-provoking sessions on member engagement, association innovation, and leadership in the sector.
  • Membership Summit & AF Conference in Canberra
In April, we explored the pressing challenges and opportunities faced by associations, sharing knowledge and best practices with key players in the industry.
  • AuSAE ACE Conference, Adelaide
As exhibitors, we engaged in valuable discussions about the future, and enjoyed inspiring keynotes from Lyndon Frearson and Dr Fiona Kerr.
  • Membership Mastermind Groups
Facilitating weekly mastermind groups has been a highlight of the year. These sessions provided a platform for leaders to share ideas, tackle challenges, and collaboratively shape the future of their organisations.
  • Industry Roundtables
These discussions offered the chance to discuss recruitment trends, workplace changes, and the evolving challenges of leadership, keeping us sharp and informed about the sector’s changing landscape.
  • Facilitating the Recruitment Consulting Certificate (RCSA)
Another highlight was hosting the Recruitment Consulting Certificate for the RCSA. Guiding industry professionals through this vital certification was both an honour and a chance to contribute to the ongoing growth and evolution of our field.

These events have not only expanded our network but also deepened our understanding of the unique challenges faced by the organisations we support. It’s really important to us that we remain experts in our field in order to service our candidates and clients to the highest possible standards.

Our Thought Leadership

This year, we’ve published a range of articles and blogs aimed at supporting our clients and candidates through challenges like:

  • Understanding the Right to Disconnect Laws and their impact on workplace culture.
  • The Role of Inclusivity in Diversity – and why these concepts must go hand-in-hand.
  • How to Handle Underperformance Respectfully – practical tips for creating growth-focused conversations.
  • The Benefits of Taking Breaks on Retention and Engagement – because rest matters, especially during the holidays.

Writing these pieces has been an opportunity to reflect on our industry and provide practical insights to help our clients thrive. Have a read if you didn’t get a chance!

End-of-Year Reflections in Recruitment

What Worked

  1. Relationships Over Transactions
This year reinforced how vital it is to focus on relationships. The best hires happened when we understood not just the skills required but also the values and goals of both our clients and candidates.
  2. Flexibility is Key
Whether it was the growing demand for hybrid roles or the need for flexibility during hiring processes, adaptability has been crucial. Organisations willing to embrace change attract the best candidates.
  3. Niche Expertise Wins
Our sector-specific focus allowed us to deliver targeted solutions, proving the value of working with a boutique agency that understands the nuances of the membership and associations space.

What Didn’t Work

  1. Lengthy Recruitment Processes
While it’s important not to rush the recruitment process, dragging it out can be just as problematic. Lengthy timelines can frustrate candidates, risk losing the best candidates, and slow down the hiring team’s ability to fill a critical role. A balanced approach, where the process is well-structured but efficient, is key to success.
  2. Lack of Clarity Among Stakeholders
One of the biggest hurdles in successful recruitment is a lack of alignment among those involved in the hiring process. To ensure the best outcome, it’s critical that everyone on the hiring team is on the same page regarding the type of candidate they’re looking for. Meetings with the recruiter to clarify expectations, values, and desired skills are essential. This upfront effort can prevent miscommunication and wasted time later in the process.
  3. Ignoring Values
Even candidates with exceptional technical skills struggled when there was a misalignment with the organisation’s values. We’ve seen time and again that value alignment is critical for long-term success and team cohesion. Keeping values at the heart of the recruitment process remains non-negotiable for us.

What’s Next?

Looking ahead, we’re focused on:

  • Strengthening Executive Search – Helping clients find transformative leaders who align with their vision.
  • Elevating Candidate Experience – Ensuring that every candidate interaction reflects the values we champion.
  • Exploring New Ways to Engage – From webinars to in-person events, we’re excited to connect with the sector in fresh and meaningful ways.

Thank You

To our clients, candidates, and partners: thank you for trusting us with your recruitment journeys. Your support and collaboration mean everything.

As we wrap up the year, we’re taking a moment to celebrate the wins, reflect on the lessons, and gear up for an even brighter 2025.

Here’s to a happy, restful holiday season and a successful year ahead!
